Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are constantly praying and seeking the Lord to show us His provision for A New Beginning Financial and Ministries, both corporately and individually as His Body. Since we are all one body in Christ Jesus (1 Cor 12), when one of our members suffer, all suffer with it.
We have received an increasing amount of prayer requests from so many of you, and we’re extremely blessed and grateful. At the same time, after reading these petitions, God has given us more love and burden for you in our hearts. This is a wonderful thing, because we are assured in God’s Word that, in situations like these, our Heavenly Father is seeking to do a great work in our lives!
Amid these requests, we have seen develop fear, anxiety and frustration with regard to our debt settlement program. These feelings are perfectly normal and understandable, especially when the duration of the program is an average of 36 months.
What a wonderful opportunity! In James 1:2-4, the apostle Paul encourages us to “count it all for joy when we fall into various trials knowing the testing of our faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be complete, lacking nothing.”
It is in moments like these that God seeks to build our faith. He wants to use these trying economic times to draw us into a deeper walk with Himself.
For the vast majority of those who are in a position of financial bondage, it is a result of getting ahead of the Lord with their finances. Borrowing money is presuming on a future that we simply cannot control.
Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender”. Proverbs 22:26-27 goes even deeper: “Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, one of those who is surety for debts; If you have nothing with which to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?”
The good news is that “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Rom 8:1). Even though we have been forgiven for all of our sins by repenting of them and putting our faith in Jesus Christ, we can still suffer as the result of our sins.
It didn’t take us 6 months to get into the debt, and getting out from under it won’t happen overnight, either. Just remember to be patient, and to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,” (Prov 3:5) and “Be anxious for nothing.” (Phil 4:6). We’re simply an instrument God uses to deliver you from this debt. You put your faith in Him when he led you here. Nothing has changed, and we must keep our eyes on eternity and stay encouraged.
Remember, too, that we recently began our Thursday All-Night Prayer sessions, hosted in our office chapel starting at 9:30PM. To tee this up, we have moved our Wednesday Bible study to Thursday for those who would like to arrive early for a verse-by-verse journey through Scripture.
In addition, the last Thursday of EVERY MONTH at 7pm, we will be having fellowship specifically for those who are enrolled in the debt settlement program.
We understand that, after being in this program for a few months, discouragement can set in. We’re here for you to work together with you to be over-comers in Christ! This will be a time to ask all your questions and voice your concerns, including all legal questions (court summons, garnishment, etc.) We will have an attorney here to go through all of this with you. Everything we do here is to honor Jesus.
We understand that there can be many obstacles in the road; indeed, what may seem to be giants in circumstances we face. But remember we serve an awesome, mighty, powerful God, and to Him our giants aren’t even a microorganism! He still cares about every circumstance in our lives. He will never leave us or forsake us! We need to be wise and equipped because “our adversary walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all Grace who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever, AMEN. (1 Peter 5:9-11)
This is why the Lord has called us to have these meetings every month. There is no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed about your finances; everyone is going through this. I can’t begin to put to words how bad this economy is. Thank God we are in His economy as His sons and daughters! We need to unite as the Body of Christ stronger then ever before. Come meet others going through the same things you are, and let’s pray and call upon the name of the Lord and watch Him deliver! “I will love you, O LORD, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust. My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so I shall be saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 18:1-3)
